Trading proved difficult on American markets this week. Buyers were cautious about making any purchases, what with futures trending downward. As a result, the prices of most products had to be reduced. Nevertheless, a few deals involving quick delivery times were to be noted toward the end of the week, as a number of wholesalers and distributors took advantage of the situation to cover their short sales. Other players preferred to postpone purchases in anticipation of additional cuts to producers’ quoted prices.

The situation was similar on Canadian markets. Buyers refrained from making purchases, thus making activity sluggish and causing prices to turn vulnerable. Rail cars and trucks also appeared to be in short supply this week.

Our Pribec composite price index this week decreased 2%, to CAN$422.44.
